About five and a half years ago, I gave birth to the most beautiful girl in the world. Princess Purple Sparkles brought Mountain Man and I so much happiness and joy. We wanted to give her a brother or sister.
Unfortunately, that pregnancy was ectopic and nearly took my life. After a few doses of chemotherapy, I was better, but told that I may never have another pregnancy. Nearly five years later, that was confirmed by a fertility specialist. Unless I want to undergo a series of surgeries and in vitro fertilization, we will never naturally give birth to another child-- and even then it's a 50% chance of it not working, after numerous surgeries, needles and medications. The tests for IVF hurt, and I can only imagine what would happen if we continued the process.
So Mountain Man and I have decided to forego the incredibly risky medical procedures, and adopt instead. We just put in our initial application to adopt from Russia, and we're so cautiously excited. He grew up in Romania and moved to America when he was 7 years old. I studied Russian in college, and was near fluent for a while there. We're looking forward to travelling halfway across the world to find our child and can't wait to have them in our arms.
This blog will chronicle our journey, and the things we learn in this process.
